Grissom Air Reserve Base is located in North Central Indiana and is home to the largest KC-135R Stratotanker wing in the Air Force Reserve Command , units from the US Army Reserve and also the US Marine Corps Reserve. The host unit is the 434th Air Refueling Wing , the “Hoosier Wing”, which consists of three major groups and a variety of squadrons and flights. The wing develops and maintains the operational capability of its units and train reservists for worldwide duty. Training consists of flight operations, deployments, and weekday and weekend training. Colonel Larry H. Shaw commands the 434th Air Refueling Wing. Its Command Chief Master Sergeant is Chief Master Sergeant Wes Marion.Other organizations located at Grissom ARB include the Civil Air Patrol ; A Company, 1st Battalion, 330th Infantry Regiment ; 316th Psychological Operations Company; and 1st Detachment, 855th Quartermaster Company.

From Indianapolis: Take I-465 North to U.S. 31 North. Grissom is 70 miles north of Indianapolis and 15 miles north of Kokomo, Ind.
From South Bend: Take U.S. Highway 31 South and Grissom is 65 miles south of South Bend.
From Lafayette: Take S.R. 26 to Kokomo, Ind., and then take U.S. 31 North.Grissom is 15 miles north of Kokomo, Ind.
From Fort Wayne: Take S.R. 24 West to U.S. 31 South. Grissom is 10 miles south of Peru, Ind.
