About
Lebanon VA Medical Center (VAMC) is located in Pennsylvania Dutch country and has been proudly providing care to Veterans for more than 70 years. It is one of 170 VA medical centers in the nation with the sole purpose of providing world-class medical care to America’s Veterans. Regionally, within VA, Lebanon VAMC is part of VISN 4, which includes nine other facilities located in Philadelphia, Coatesville, Wilkes-Barre, Altoona, Pittsburgh, Butler, and Erie in Pennsylvania, as well as Wilmington, Delaware.
Lebanon VAMC’s main campus is located in South Lebanon Township, three miles outside the city of Lebanon and approximately 30 miles east of Harrisburg, the state capital, and 30 minutes from the cities of Hershey, Reading, Lancaster and York. Lebanon VAMC serves a nine county area in South Central Pennsylvania covering Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, Schuylkill and York counties. Lebanon VAMC also oversees six clinics located in communities throughout our service area.
Services provided at the facility include: acute medical, surgical, diagnostic radiology, behavioral health, substance abuse, hospice, pain management, visual impairment and long-term inpatient care. Our outpatient services include: primary care, specialty care, social work services and psychiatric rehabilitation services.
Other services provided through the facility include a full range of home and caregiver services including: telehealth, home-based primary care, skilled home care, adult day health care, peer support for caregivers, home health aide programs, homemaker home health care, respite care, community residential care, home hospice care and homeless Veteran care.
Lebanon VAMC is also proud to be one of the leading teaching hospitals in the area. We have a vibrant affiliation with the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and other local educational institutions. The Veteran-focused facility is proud of the fact that one-third of its employees are Veterans. AFFILIATIONS
The Lebanon VA Medical Center has a vibrant affiliation with the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine based at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Residency programs exist in, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Hematology/Oncology, Ophthalmology and Psychiatry. The Lebanon VA Medical Center provides 27.72 VA funded resident positions along with 19 Associated Health trainees resulting in approximately 350 medical fellows, students and residents receiving training each year.
AWARDS
Lebanon VA Medical Center was visited by the Joint Commission survey team in July of 2017 for a 4 day triennial review. Our medical center campus and CBOCs were reviewed under the Hospital, Home Care, and Behavioral Health program standards. The healthcare system has full accreditation from The Joint Commission, College of American Pathologists, and the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB). Our triennial Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) survey was completed in May of 2016 and resulted in a full three year accreditation.
