Camp Pendleton Lodging

Whether you’re visiting a family member who is based at Camp Pendleton or you require transient housing while on temporary assignment at Camp Pendleton, you might be looking for quality yet affordable lodging in the area.

Camp Pendleton is the major West Coast base of the United States Marine Corps and is also one of the largest Marine Corps bases in the country. The California base was built in 1942 and continues to serve as a training hub for the Marines.

If you’re looking for Camp Pendleton lodging, you’ve come to the right place. Here, we’re breaking things down into two kinds of military-affiliated, affordable lodging near Camp Pendleton: Inns of the Corps and military-friendly campgrounds and cottages.

Inns of the Corps

Pacific Views Lodge

The Pacific Views Lodge is one of the recommendation accommodations by the Marine Corps and is considered an “Inn of the Corps.” Deluxe rooms and suites are available with amenities including high-speed internet, an in-room safe, microwave, refrigerator, coffee machine with free coffee, and more.

Suites include a kitchenette with all the necessary kitchen supplies but every guest is free to enjoy a complimentary breakfast, the business and fitness centers, a picnic area with BBQ, and more. Every room has an ocean view and rates range from $114 to $154 per night.

Reserve a room at Pacific Views Lodge by calling (760) 763-7805.

Ward Lodge

Ward Lodge is another “Inn of the Corps” but is slightly more affordable than the Pacific Views Lodge. You’re able to book either a Standard, Deluxe, or Kitchenette room and there are also pet-friendly rooms available.

You’ll still get a complimentary breakfast, laundry facilities, and a picnic area, but it doesn’t have a fitness or business center. Rooms range from $84 to $104 a night and is the perfect option if you’re on a tight budget. It’s nothing fancy, but it does the job of providing a clean room.

Call (760) 725-5304 to book a room at Ward Lodge.

Campgrounds and Cottages

Del Mar Beach and Marina

If you’re the adventurous type and you love traveling the country in your RV or camper van, then you might be interested in one of the campgrounds near Camp Pendleton. The first is Del Mar Beach and Marina where you camp right near the ocean.

With beachfront sites and special reservation options for service members, you can book your site up to three months in advance. Active duty service members get access to reservations on the first of the month, reservists and veterans have access on the second of the month, patrons of the DoD get access on the third of the month, and everyone else has reservation access on the fourth of the month.

Walk-in reservations are also available so long as you’ll be departing within the month. Long stays are another perk of the campgrounds and is something to consider.

In addition to camping, Del Mar Beach and Marina offers beach cottages with special prices for service members. With beachfront and marina view options, the cottages come in one- and two-bedroom varieties.

At the cottages, you’ll have beach access, Wi-Fi, a full kitchen, bedrooms with queen beds and full closets, a couch and TV, outdoor patio space, and options to bring your pet. Reservation access is the same as what’s available to book the campsites and, again, active duty service members are given first priority.

Contact the call center at (855) REC-2118 to reserve your Del Mar Beach and Marina campsite or cottage.

San Onofre Beach

San Onofre Beach also offers campgrounds and cottages for a beachside getaway with a focus on service members and their families. It’s a great budget-friendly option that can be booked up to three months in advance.

Booking options for San Onofre Beach also prioritize active duty service members and the campgrounds offer flexibility if you have your own RV, van, or tent.

The difference between the cottages at San Onofre beach is that they come in either one-, two-, or three-bedroom varieties. All of this space makes it the perfect opportunity to gather large groups of family and friends for a beach getaway or transitional housing for your growing family while you’re temporarily stationed at Camp Pendleton.

There are laundry facilities on-site and pets are welcome at San Onofre Beach. Rates vary from $18 per person per night for ground camping at the campgrounds or $216 per night for a 3-bedroom cottage. You can’t beat these prices for a beachfront property.

Call (760) 763-SAND (7263) or (760) 763-SURF (7873) to reserve your campsite or cottage at San Onofre Beach.

Lake O’Neill

If you’re super outdoorsy, you’ll love Lake O’Neill. It’s a campground near Camp Pendleton and doubles as a recreational park. That means, there’s lots to do here.

Grab some bait at the Recreation Office and go fishing, no matter the time of year. Rent row boats or paddle boats. Play volleyball, basketball, baseball, or horseshoes. There are even gorgeous event spaces where people have their wedding, retirement party, and family picnics.

It’s also a wonderful place to stay if you’re a fan of camping. The campgrounds offer free wifi and all the hookups you require. Again, reservations can be made up to three months in advance and booking access based on your status as a service member is the same as what’s used at Del Mar Beach and Marina and San Onofre Beach.

To reserve a campsite at Lake O’Neill, call (760) 725-5611.

As you can tell, Camp Pendleton offers many affordable and fun options for accommodation. Because of California’s scenic landscapes and exceptional weather, it means staying in a campground can feel luxurious and exciting.

There’s no need for all the fancy frills. From gorgeous campsites to the “Inns of the Corps” (the most convenient in terms of its proximity to Camp Pendleton), you’re sure to find somewhere to stay that won’t break the bank.
