Xfinity Military Discount

Xfinity offers a $25 Xfinity coupon to military service members and Veterans that can be applied towards Xfinity On Demand rental or purchase, or it can be used as a credit towards your next bill. Comcast is the parent company of Xfinity. Xfinity doesn’t offer more in regards to military discounts, but there are ways to get your Xfinity service rates reduced with a little bit of care and a willingness to negotiate.

Let’s look at the history of Xfinity, as well as ways to lower your rates with service providers like Xfinity to ensure that you are receiving the services that you want at the prices that you are happier to pay.

About Xfinity

Xfinity was created in 2010. It’s a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation. Xfinity markets consumer cable television, internet, wireless services, and telephone services. It’s a major company that is known for blocking out entire markets which can be a struggle for those seeking out competitive prices. When there’s only one company in an area offering these types of services, then they can usually price things as they see fit without much negotiation room for those who would otherwise use a different option if they had one.

A benefit of Xfinity is that they are committed to supporting the military community in various ways. Some of those are by offering discounts on their services to military members which we will look at in a moment and other ways that we will examine now. Xfinity, and Comcast as its parent company, support the military in various ways. One of those is by committing to employ military members and their families. By 2021, they have committed to employing more than 21,000 members of the military. And since 2011, they have donated over $95 million to various Veterans’ organizations in the form of cash and in-kind contributions.

Getting an Xfinity Military Discount

It would be wonderful if Xfinity offered a monthly military discount on their services, but at this time they offer a different type of promotion in the form of a credit towards products or future bills. For those currently serving in the military or Veterans of the Armed Forces, you can receive a $25 Xfinity coupon to use towards Xfinity On Demand rentals or purchases, or you can use it as a credit towards your next bill. To receive the discount, there is an application to fill out with proof of military service as well as a valid Xfinity account number. For those who signed up for an Xfinity service with a minimum term agreement on or after January 1, 2018, you might be eligible to receive a special $100 prepaid Visa card.

While these are great options to utilize and lower the cost of your internet, cable television, or telephone services, there are other ways to lower this amount even more. It just requires some research, confidence, and a willingness to put in some effort to get those rates reduced to an amount that you’re comfortable with.

How To Negotiate Rates

Negotiating rates with a monthly service provider, whether it be for Xfinity’s services of wireless, internet, cable TV, or telephone services, or for other monthly services that improve your quality of life, can be a daunting thing. Sometimes we feel locked into the prices that are offered, when in reality, as consumers, we have a lot of buying power when it comes to these services.

If you live in an area where there is competition, you have even more negotiating room as far as getting a discount or better deal on your services. It might be a different experience to haggle for different rates, but with practice, it gets a lot easier. Businesses like Xfinity and Comcast (and their other subsidiaries like AT&T) are billion-dollar companies that have room to negotiate. Let’s take a look at some of the strategies that you can implement to get a lower rate on your monthly service bills.

  • Call and speak to someone in the cancellations department at Xfinity. If you already have an account with Xfinity, do a little research beforehand for the deals and rates being offered by the competitors, as well as the deals that Xfinity, or whatever service it is, is currently offering. When you call in, you can tell them that you want to cancel your service because the rates are too high. The first thing the customer service representative is going to do is offer to find ways to get your bill lowered. Sometimes they can’t, and in that case, it’s up to you to push more to speak with a manager, stay with the service, or be willing to walk away and use another service that will most likely honor the deal you are seeking. When making calls like this, it’s important to be kind. Xfinity and Comcast are known for having subpar customer service. But they most likely deal with irate customers daily, and most people are more inclined to be helpful when the person on the other end has a little patience and compassion to throw their way.
  • Price comparison shopping is always helpful. It’s important to know what is offered in your area. If it’s only Xfinity then it might be more difficult to get a better deal, although still entirely possible. If you have multiple options, do some price comparisons for similar products and offerings. Which is the most value for what you’re seeking? Once you figure out which is offered, call one of them and talk about what kind of deal they can offer you. Let them know that you are price shopping to find the best deal for the best services between their company and other specific companies. Businesses pay a lot of money to bring on new clients, especially for subscription-based services where they might stay for a decent amount of time. More often than not, these companies will prefer to keep your service (and dollars), even if they are a little less, as opposed to handing over your business to the competition.
  • Reach out to customer service representatives. As with many businesses, the easiest way to get a discount, a lower rate, or a better deal, is to ask. Don’t be afraid to ask for a better deal. Don’t be afraid to walk away if they can’t meet your needs and your budget. When speaking to a customer service representative, tell them what you love about the company and services, as well as how you think they could improve. This is what is expected of consumers, especially when it comes to keeping major corporations accountable and accessible to all. As always, kindness goes a long way.

Xfinity is a great internet provider in many respects, although they do have their controversies with violating net neutrality practices. It’s up to the consumer to decide who they want to support by looking at the big picture of what the company stands for, how they support the military, how they treat their customers, as well as their transparency and integrity as a company. Sometimes we don’t have a choice in the matter, depending on where we live. But more often than not, consumers have a lot of power because companies depend on the consumer to keep them in business. Xfinity offers a military discount that is a small token of appreciation for military members and Veterans, and it’s not a requirement for any business to offer these perks.
