Connect with Community is our newest program aimed to improve the resiliency and self-sufficiency of women veterans. CWC is a networking and career workshop for women veterans and transitioning active duty women. We bring the women veteran community together with women leaders in business and academia and provide a forum for women veterans to gain access and increase knowledge of local community, business, and academic resources. We lead interactive sessions on budgeting, networking, interviewing, career change, leadership, resiliency, and negotiating salary. Our women veterans build productive relationships with both businesswomen and other women veterans and take part in onsite mentoring. We connect veterans to affordable housing options, employment, professional development, transition assistance, advanced education and legal assistance. As an organization we value transparency, integrity and teamwork. We constantly seek relationships with like-minded organizations. Our ongoing research and collaboration allows us to provide a true foundation to our women warriors through connections to unique life enriching resources and programs. Our program staff is well versed in local community and nationwide programs that support our women warriors. We provide our women warriors with immediate grants to cover rent and emergency expenses such as medical bills, utility bills, and other necessities. Our gifts are a hand up, not a handout. Warrior Assistance gives women warriors the short-term, high-impact relief that they need to navigate life’s obstacles and make successful life transitions. In collaboration with STAR Education, Foundation for Women Warriors is proud to present the newly launched Child Care Assistance program. STAR Summer Day Camp scholarships opportunities are available at select LAUSD School campuses (entering grades K-6th) for children of qualified women veteran mothers who are working or attending school. A Child Care Stipend Program also is available to qualified women veteran mothers. The program is available for children ages 0 to 5 years old and, if awarded, stipends are paid directly to licensed care providers.
